The ISG Registered Gemologist Appraiser Program is the world leader in gemological and jewelry insurance appraisal education. This complete package includes eight (8) courses in gemology and jewelry appraisal as listed below. It includes the full Classroom-At-Home lecture series of study. This program is for those who wish to study gemology and jewelry insurance appraisal. Successful completion of this program awards the student the ISG Registered Gemologist Appraiser title. The RGA program includes all of the courses as shown:

This program does not require any previous gemological training. Courses are delivered online by Adobe Flash presentation, and downloadable course notes via PDF Adobe Reader files. There are no other books or other materials required. Gemological equipment is provided as part of your RGA Package as outlined below.

ISG105 Introduction to Watches

This online PDF and DVD Video course program will provide the student with a foundation level introduction to watches and the watch markets. The course is delivered via online Adobe Flash presentation with embedded instructional video, as well as downloadable PDF files of the course notes only.

ISG106 Pearls Course

This course is an online distance education in pearls that will provide the student with a complete overview of pearls, the pearls markets and pearl grading. The course is delivered via online PDF files that can be downloaded and DVD Video Lecture that will ship within 48 hours.

ISG101 Diamonds Course

This online course is delivered via Adobe Flash presentation with embedded instructional video lectures that will provide the student with a complete overview of diamonds, diamond grading, and the diamond markets. The course notes are provided by PDF files that can be read online or downloaded for personal study. .

ISG103 Gemology Tools and Techniques

This online course provides you with a step by step instruction on how to get the most from your gemological tools and equipment. This is the only course specifically designed to help the new gemologist understand how the equipment works, and how to get the most out of their testing procedures even on jewelry set gemstones. It is part of our 2 course Colored Gemstones Program, along with the Colored Gemstones Course.

ISG102 Colored Gemstones Course

This online course includes Adobe Flash presentation course materials with embedded video lectures that will provide the student with a complete overview of colored gemstones include colored gemstone identification and grading. The course is delivered via Adobe Flash presentation, course notes can be downloaded for private reading via online PDF files.

ISG 104: Created and Treated Gemstones

This online course will provide the student with a complete overview of the process of synthesizing gemstones in the lab, including identification of those gemstones. The course is delivered via online PDF files that can be downloaded for personal study and review.

ISG108 Evaluating Damaged Jewelry

Successful completion of this course will allow the licensee/student to obtain specific skills in the evaluation of damaged jewelry coverage and claims. It will also provide the graduate with foundation level skills in insurance fraud investigations through the insurance Special Investigations Unit.

ISG107 - Jewelry Insurance Appraisal

A complete program of jewelry appraisal from how to properly format the appraisal document, how to structure it for legal issues, how to set up and market an appraisal office, how to work with the insurance professionals and a complete education in how to operate a successful jewelry appraisal business. Successful completion of this course will allow the licensee to obtain specific skills in the evaluation of jewelry as personal property coverage and claims.

Diamonds, Colored Gemstones and Pearls Grading Practical Package

Upon completion of the eight (8) courses in gemology and appraisal, the ISG will provide the students with a single Practicals Package containing pearls, diamonds and colored gemstones that will be sent to you for practice grading and identification. These will be returned to the ISG office for evaluation of your progress before you take the Final Exams and Practicals.

ISG Gem Equipment Package

The special ISG Gem Equipment Package is included only with the full RG and RGA Program packages, and includes all of the equipment items required to complete the RG and RGA Programs. It is shipped to you immediately for your study as part of your full ISG RGA Package. See below for more details.

 

Certificates and Diplomas: A Certificate of Completion after each course, the Registered Gemologist and Registered Gemologist Appraiser diplomas are awarded after completing all courses, final exams, and practical exams. Final exam includes online written exam and a practical gem identification exam sent to you for completion and return to the ISG office.

Final Exams: A 90 minute timed online Theory Final Exam of 100 multiple choice and true/false questions with a required passing grade of 70% covering all course materials. Then, a 20 stone Practical Final Exam will be sent to you to test your gemological ability to identify gemstones. International students will be required to place a refundable US$800.00 deposit with the ISG office when requesting practicals. One deposit will cover all practicals

  14. Final Gemology Theory and Practical Exams will require you to take a timed, online written exam of true/false and multiple choice, and to successfully identify 20 gemstones sent to you as a Final Practical Exam. International students will be required to place a refundable US$800.00 deposit with the ISG office when requesting Final Practical Exams. One deposit will cover all practicals
