ISG Registered Gem Dealer Program Home Page

Welcome to the ISG Registered Gem Dealer Program. The purpose of this program is to provide new gem dealers, and those seeking to enter the profitable world of gemstone dealing, with a foundation level education in the world of gemstone dealers. In this program we will cover everything you need get you started on your successful career…or perhaps hobby…as a gemstone dealer. Please read each lesson carefully, taking time to learn the material. There will be Quick Quizzes at the end of most lessons. The Quick Quizzes are intended to help you test your understanding of the material, and can be taken as many times as you wish. Quick Quiz grades do not count toward your final grade, only your Final Exam will count as your grade.

There are three courses in the ISG Gem Dealer Program: Gem Dealer Course, Successful Web Building Course, and the Introduction to Gemology Course. Each offers you important information to help you become a successful gem dealer. At the end of each course you will take a final exam where the passing grade will always be 70%. You will receive a Certificate of Completion for each course. At the end of all three courses you will be awarded the title of ISG Registered Gem Dealer, and your name will be added to our ISG Gem Dealer Registry.

After you read the following information, please use the drop down menu at the upper right hand corner of this page to access the courses. You can take the courses in any order you wish.

Study Methods....

The ISG courses are presented as stand alone online presentations that include video lectures and demonstrations embedded directly into the course notes. This will allow you to read and study the information, while at the same time being able to view video demonstrations of the material being presented. We urge you to take your time and study the information carefully. The final exams are timed so you will not have time to look up answers during your final exams. All other exams are practice and can be taken as many times as you wish. These are for practice only and are not timed. But your Final Exams are timed and the information must be studied carefully in order to pass without the need of a retake. Retakes are available but hopefully you will not need this.

 The ISG Community Forums Board...

This will be where you can interact with other students and professional gemologists around the world. There are two important factors to remember about the ISG Student Forums Board:

  1. • The Forums Board is a separate registration that you have to do yourself. It is free and included with your ISG Registration. However, you must do your own registration in order to create your own USERNAME and PASSWORD.

  2. • Your USERNAME and PASSWORD for the ISG Student Forums Board will be different than your ISG Student Number and Password. You create these for yourself when you register for the Forums Board. If you have problems with registration in the ISG Student Forums Board, please contact us on the forums board contact system.

To Contact the ISG Office for any Student Inquiries:

All formal inquiries and questions from ISG Students to the ISG office must be sent on the Contact the ISG form located on this page. Please DO NOT use any other email address as our response time on inbound emails from those addresses may take several days depending on the traffic volume.  The ISG Gem Dealer Home Page has a special reserved inbound email address linked to the Contact the ISG form that we check hourly. If you send any request of any type using the other email addresses it may take up to several days to get a response.

Phone consultation with Robert James is by appointment only. Please use the Contact the ISG forum in the Student Home Page if you wish to schedule a phone consultation appointment with the ISG office. We regret the need for this but the volume of students and communication traffic now requires this change.

Please Remember: Always include your ISG Student Number on all correspondence to the ISG office regarding of the purpose or method of contact. As a registered student you must use the proper Student Assistance form (Contact the ISG) available from the link in the ISG Student Home Page.
